Mission Statement

We are the sound of our society

We are the Bridges Kammerorchester. We are shaped by different cultures, musical styles and experiences. From the diversity of individual artistic identities, we create our unique Bridges sound. Our music makes societies of migration audible. In this way, we are an international role model that combines artistic excellence with social impact.

Diversity is our identity

In the Bridges Kammerorchester, musicians and their instruments come together from the most diverse regions of the world. We are experts in Arabic, Persian and European classical music, jazz, contemporary music, Eastern European folklore, and various forms of Central Asian and Latin American music. Building on our individual identities, we compose and arrange our pieces ourselves. What emerges is transcultural music.

We are revolutionising the concert experience

Our concerts are personal. The musicians’ joy in the shared creative process is transmitted to our audience. At our performances, we tell the stories behind the works being performed and give the music a context. Musical innovation and artistic interaction matter more to us than conventions. The atmosphere, the unique repertoire, premieres and improvisations make each of our concerts one of a kind. We appeal to different communities and bring a wide variety of people to music. In this way, we fill concert halls.

We empower through music

By listening to one another, we turn common ground as well as differences into something productive. We bring this expertise into our educational and community work. Through music, we strengthen people in their personal development so that they can help shape social structures with confidence. We test and communicate practices for a society in which diversity is a strength.

We are an impact-oriented social enterprise

We take responsibility. As an organisation, we are constantly critically questioning ourselves and working together to overcome discriminatory structures. Through our work, we promote a culturally rich and good way of living together. The relevance of what we do must also be recognised financially. We strive to pay our musicians and staff fairly on a permanent basis. As a freelance orchestra, we are setting new standards for social sustainability.
